My Crisis & Safety Plan

A safety plan is not a promise you'll never struggle — it's a map you write for yourself now, so future-you has a path when things get dark. Fill in as much as you can. Skip anything that isn't ready yet.

Adapted from the Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention. Reviewed with a peer specialist, not a substitute for emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911, or go to the nearest emergency department.
About you
Step 1 — My warning signs

Thoughts, feelings, body sensations, or situations that tell me a crisis may be building.

Step 2 — Things I can do on my own (without contacting anyone)

Grounding, movement, breathing, art, music, prayer, showers — whatever actually works for me.

Step 3 — People & places that distract me and help me feel connected

Names of friends, family, meetings, coffee shops, parks — no need to explain why to them.

Step 4 — People I can ask for help

One or two people I could call and tell that I'm struggling.

Step 5 — Professionals & agencies I can call
Step 6 — Making my environment safer

Removing or securing access to means (medications, firearms, sharps, etc.).

Step 7 — Reasons for living

The people, animals, dreams, tiny things worth staying for.
