The short version: I do not turn people away over who they are, who they love, what they believe, what they have been convicted of, what they are using, or what they cannot pay. If you can be safe with me, you can work with me.
No discrimination
Heart of Care does not deny, delay, or reduce service based on race, color, national origin or immigration status, ethnicity, language, religion or lack of one, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy, age, disability, diagnosis, HIV status, substance use, recovery status, housing status, income, veteran status, criminal record, or source of payment.
That includes people who are unhoused, people in active use, people on probation or parole, people leaving jail, people who have been discharged from other programs, and people other services have already given up on. Especially them.
Accessibility and accommodations
Ask for what you need. It is not a favor and you do not have to explain it twice.
- Large print, read-aloud forms, or help filling anything out.
- A slower pace, shorter visits, or breaks.
- A support person, family member, or advocate present.
- A phone call, text, or video visit instead of an in-person meeting.
- Meeting somewhere that works for your body — your porch, a parking lot, a library, or the Red Bullet mobile unit coming to you.
- Interpretation or a language other than English, arranged at no cost to you. Sign language interpretation arranged the same way.
- Service animals are welcome anywhere I work.

The site is built to work with screen readers and keyboard navigation, with real text alternatives for images and readable contrast. If any page on this site blocks you, tell me which page and what happened and I will fix it — and I will get you the information by phone in the meantime.
The only reasons service stops
Violence or credible threats, weapons brought into a visit, or conduct that makes it unsafe for me to be in the room. Even then, I will tell you why, in writing if you want, and I will hand you referrals rather than drop you in the road.
If you believe you were discriminated against
Use the grievance process. You may also take it to an outside agency, and I will help you do that. Nothing about your service changes because you filed.
