PSA: Ambiguous Grief

the Honey Badger is on the mic

🚨 PSA! PSA! PSA! 🚨

🎤 This is the Honey Badger speaking! Check, check, check!

Today, the Honey Badger wants to talk about something that doesn't get talked about nearly enough.

Ambiguous Grief.

Most people think grief only happens when someone dies.

But that's not the whole story.

Sometimes the person you love is still alive, yet the relationship has changed, disappeared, or become unreachable through family estrangement, addiction, dementia, incarceration, divorce, military service, or other life circumstances.

That kind of loss has a name.

It's called ambiguous grief.

There is no funeral.

There is no clear goodbye.

There is no neat ending.

Only unanswered questions, memories, hope, heartache, and learning how to keep moving forward one day at a time.

At Heart of Care Full Spectrum Community Treatment Service, we recognize that healing isn't one-size-fits-all. Through the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, we encourage people to care for their emotional, physical, social, spiritual, occupational, intellectual, environmental, and financial well-being — because grief affects every part of our lives.

So if you're carrying a grief that no one else seems to understand, hear the Honey Badger loud and clear:

Your pain is real.

Your story matters.

You deserve compassion, not judgment.

And you don't have to walk the journey alone.

Support the Sanctuary

Keep the porch lit, the chickens fed, and the art table stocked.

Heart of Care runs on stubborn hope, kibble, hen scratch, and glue sticks. If a story landed for you, a small tip helps keep the Cat Nap Inn, the 99 Retreat, and the Soul Cloth Sanctuary going. Every dollar lands directly on the porch.

Tips are gifts of support, not tax-deductible donations.
